So here's where I get to share a few things about myself. I'm 26 years old, currently living in Arcata California. I'm not rich, in fact I have few meaningful possessions besides my camera (and my computer). I tend to be a bit reclusive at times, but only because I value the silence and the stillness of my own mind. Its the lure of stillness that draws me out on adventures at odd hours of the night, to brave the cold and the wet with determination to find that crystalline moment frozen in time. I am a scientist, and a philosopher, and I above all I value the wisdom that can only be learned by witnessing the passing of seasons.

I have a hard time relating with people at times, so its not surprising to me that I feel so strongly about trying to communicate with others using images instead of words.

I'm a strange sort of spiritualist, because I don't believe in god -- but I do believe in the universe. I believe in the awesome power of mathematics and science, and their amazing ability to allow me to have such a closer understanding of the universe that created me. There is more to this universe than my human eyes can see, and I try to capture those short moments of clarity in a way that I hope others can feel.

I started out my college carrer at the age of 16 after graduating high-school in an accelerated 3 year curriculum. My mom thought I was too young to go off to college, so I started taking classes at the local communty college in Hawaii. Without any real degree to be following, I loaded up on the humanities with courses like logic and philosohpy which I found to be most fascinating. About a year later I decided to move back to Alaska and continued taking community college classes where my dad just happened to be teaching a beggining photography course at the local college. The camera changed my whole perspective on the world, and it stopped being a piece of technology for me and became a way of life.

As much as I love photography, however, it doesn't pay my bills. I'm virtually unknown as an artist, except possibly with my friends and family -- who of course have always been extremely supportive. I'm self empoyed, as a Freelance web-developer -- which affords me great flexibility in my schedule to take time to go exploring. I can make my own hours, and can take advantage of those random opportunities to go out and take pictures. My job keeps me in touch with the world, and the attention to detail that comes with programming keeps my mind sharp and fresh.

But no matter how satisfying I find programming and building websites, I'm a photographer first -- and a webdeveloper second.

If you like my work, I thoroughly enjoy hearing from people -- feel free to contact me and tell me what you think.
